 La Red - Caja de Herramientas
La Red Colombiana de Productores Comunitarios Ambientalmente Amigables is a network of community based smallscale producers in Colombia who try, by working together through horizontal co operation in this network, to improve their production activities and their access to national and , international Green Markets.
The members and beneficiaries of this initiative are Indigenous associations, afro-Colombians and peasant associations. In order to reach this objective they participate in activities of exchange of information and experiences, learning from each other. They also may receive technical/administrative support provided by the Technical Secretariat of the project located within the Colombian Non Governmental Organization Caja de Herramientas which the original financial donor of the project –the Dutch Embassy in Bogotá- selected to this end. This Secretariat will also give legal advice and provide, when opportune, financial support.
One strategic goal of La Red is to be present in February 2007 at the BioFach International Fair for Organic products in Nurnberg, Germany, with five Colombian products: coffee, cocoa, raw sugar loaves (panela), honey products and exotic fruits from the Colombian Amazon region as a first step to export promising organic products to selected European markets.
The overall goal of the project is to reach, within a reasonable time, environmental, technical, economic, financial and organizational sustainability of the member groups as brought together in, and operating from the ever more economically expanding network, La Red
